Is it safe to trust this person? 💔

Relationship reading for romantic, familial and platonic relationships to see if the person in question is being true to their word and pure in their intentions. A.K.A. Can you rely on them and trust what they say to be true?

So often when we start dating someone or when we meet someone new and start the dating process of becoming friends there is a lot of confusion and mixed messaging that goes on. This poorly communicated information can lead to unnecessary wounding and pain along with a whole lot of uninvited stress and lost time.

The same can be said for committed relationships where things are sometimes said by one party in the heat of the moment, to hell with boundaries, feelings and consequences. And from deception comes disappointment and loss of confidence, security, safety and trust. These are big wounds and not to be taken lightly.

This reading’s cards come from the Animal Tarot Cards deck by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine, published by Hay House with artwork by Dan Craig. Check out their website if you like what you see and see or go to Amazon to get your own deck.

The cards drawn are:

  • The Page of Swords
  • The Seven of Swords
  • The King of Swords

Watch the video below to find out what it’s message is. Then send me a message and share what it awoke or sparked in you.

The Page of Swords – this person is on an intellectual pursuit to better themselves. They mean well and really are trying to improve upon who they are and how they view the world. In their actions towards you, they are sincere, but they tend to leave out the pleasantries. If you can take the message they have to give without condemning them as the messenger, then you will be ok and you can do well together. The question is, can you?

The Seven of Swords – this person has a tendency to be a bit of a thief, however, taking without asking and feeling that they are entitled to. Think of them like an energy vampire or, even, a bit of a narcissist. But, as we see in the Seven of Winter, they are also likened to the magpie, a bird who collects trinkets because it is in his nature to think first to his own nest. You are being cautioned here to protect what is yours, to hold strong boundaries, and to only give what you can afford to lose or only what you know you will receive in equal in return. This is a warning. All is not necessarily as it seems. Do not be swayed by shiny objects. Do not take things at face value. Think about what you really want and need. And feel beneath it to what is really going on.

The King of Swords – is who this person can become if they really set their mind and heart to it and if life then goes their way. It is also who they are at their core. The King, however, can be read two ways, and who your king becomes is very much up to him (or her) and how they choose to live their life. If your king remains on a path of self betterment and discovery, then he will be a sharp, clever, honest, loyal, steadfast and true companion who will do well in life and take you along with him wherever he goes. However, he does have a tendency to be more head than heart and to overly think and intellectualise. His emotions are there, but they are buried deep below the surface and not often expressed or on show. If your king fall off his path or continues to walk alongside it or head off into the undergrowth ignoring it entirely, however, it will be a different story. This king will be bitter, frustrated, full of anger that he tries but fails to suppress. He will be cold, hard, emotionally unavailable and aloof. He will hate himself for his failure to meet his own expectations in life and as a result hate everyone else too. And this disappointment and self-directed rage will ultimately get projected and reflected onto you. It will take a strong partner to walk alongside this king, one who is not afraid to mother both his human body and his soul. This is not an easy partner, but he (she) can be a great one if they just do the work.

Sunday Scripture: to help you to future-proof your week.

This is your reading for the week beginning August 24th, 2020 – but as with all readings, if you have been guided towards this page at another time then trust that it is meant to be and applicable to your life now.

As we move into the last week of August, the focus is on spring cleaning relationships, taking time out to think, reassess and heal (if we need it), and trusting that the future is bright and the Universe has our back. This might mean saying goodbye to people in our lives who have been with us since childhood, or quitting a job. Don’t panic. It’s all a necessary and very purposeful part of the long-term plan.

This week’s reading comes from the Animal Tarot Cards deck by Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine, published by Hay House with artwork by Dan Craig. Check out their website if you like what you see and see or go to Amazon to get your own deck.

The cards drawn are:

  • The Five of Winter (Swords)
  • Awakening (The Hanged Man)
  • The Ace of Spring (Wands)

Watch the video below to get the full reading, then send me a message and share what it awoke or sparked in you.

Our card for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is the Five of Winter, which shows us two dogs fighting over ownership of a piece of rope, both with jaws locked fast around it refusing to let go. This battle of wits, strength and stamina takes place close to the edge of a cliff on a very blustery day. The air is thick with clouds and full of leaves. Yet they see none of this, not the soft green grass beneath their feet, nor the delicate yellow flowers, not the peaceful blue sea to their back, nor the soon to be arriving storm. They have eyes only for each other, and they are eyes of war. Where in your life can you relate to this? Where is there a loss of mature and heart-centred communication? This card is a warning that things in your house aren’t right. It’s time to get yourself out of the way and change course. You are in a situation that can only lead to more. More fighting, broken promises, disappointments, hurt, pain, rejection, negative energy, name-calling, and blaming and violent outbursts. No good can come of it. Not while both parties are fighting over the same thing, from different perspectives, neither willing to let go. Is your pursuit worth all that effort? Could this energy not be better spent? If you back down and apologise, regardless of whether you believe yourself to be wrong or not, will this change things, will the matter be resolved? Could it be this simple? Will changing your behaviour change anything? Or is this a situation one where continuing to interact with this person or environment will only lead to more conflict because your boundaries will be ignored? Think about what you want and what is possible and then act with integrity as you either back down or back away. Take responsibility for what is yours and then leave the rest behind.

Our card for Thursday and Friday is Awakening and it asks us to look at things in a different way. The giraffe spends most of his life with his head high in the air surveying the greater landscape. He can see friends, and predators, coming from miles away and therefore take time to plan. But does this constantly looking ahead and behind, spinning his head all around, really help him in the present moment? Does he not miss out on the smaller, equally as important and vital things, like the fruit ripening on the trees, the leaves opening to perfection, the butterfly exiting the cocoon. And is he really even grounded? This card is asking us to step inside and to sit down in silence and meditate. The situation that is foremost on your mind right now, or situations, can be seen through multiple lenses. What if everything that is happening to you was happening for a reason, a good reason, and what if you are simply misinterpreting the signs, what if your resistance and emotional response is actually blocking it from moving on? Try to look at things differently. And try to look at them in more detail. Like your boss might be giving you hell because he’s in the middle of a divorce or his kid is dropping behind in school. Or your partner might be clashing swords up against you because he is going through something personal that he hasn’t shared. Or maybe it’s just that your journey together is over and you haven’t owned that openly yet? Not all things can be fixed. And not everything can be resolved by taking the higher stance. Go inside. Find the silence. Feel your way around the situation from all angles. Then, when you are more sure of your direction, try navigating again. And trust your inner instincts, even if what they say you don’t much like.

Our card for Saturday and Sunday is the Ace of Spring. This is where we can take a deep sigh and sink into a comfortable knowing that this, everything that right now feels so unfixable and unmanageable, is all going to be alright. The Universe has our back. We are not alone. Powers greater than us are watching over us and pulling the strings. We just need to relax, surrender and retract our claws. All good things come to those who wait. And you have waited patiently. This time of conflict and turmoil and loggerheads is almost done. Hang on in there this is the last leg. Wait until you see the signs and then leap into action following them. The castle on the hill that imprisoned you is about to be left behind. That side of you, that trauma from your childhood that then followed you and steered you into other disappointing and damaging relationships, is being released and healed. Your heart has been broken so that it can be made new again, bigger and stronger and brighter and so much more capable of giving and accepting (untainted and unconditional) love. Your time will come. It will. And until then, think of yourself as the little tiger being held and watched over in a constant and silent vigil.

Time to rise. 🤺

Sunday Scripture: to help you to future-proof your week.

This is your reading for the week beginning August 10th, 2020 – but as with all readings, if you have been guided towards this page at another time then trust that it is meant to be and applicable to your life now.

As we move into the second week of August, the focus is about standing up for what you believe in, picking a side and fighting for what you know to be right. This might mean loss and sacrifice – because, really, all change causes what is old and no longer serving us to fall away. But have faith, because what is being birthed in you and what is coming is worth the risk and sacrifice.

This week’s reading comes from the Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot deck, published by U.S. Games Systems, INC., with artwork based on drawings by Pamela Coleman Smith. Check out their website if you like what you see and see or go to Amazon to get your own deck.

The cards drawn are:

  • The Page of Swords
  • The Eight of Cups
  • Strength

Watch the video below to get the full reading, then send me a message and share what it awoke or sparked in you.

Our first card is the Page of Swords – new ideas, research, exploration and mental adventure. The beginning of the week – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – is all about the generation and formation of new paths and projects and the padding out and exploring of current beliefs. Who am I? What do I believe in? Which direction do I want to be moving in? The Page symbolises new things waking up and coming into balance inside and our desire to stand up and take action to move towards them. Acknowledge, though, that because you are moving in a new direction, there is a need for mentorship and advice. You likely do not have all of the information you need for this journey to hand and perhaps you lack experience and insight. Find leaders who have been there before, who understand how it is done and know what to do, and ask them to if they will lead, guide and help you. Perhaps take an online course and join a support circle? Maybe dive deep into a transformational book and start binge watching someone’s podcast or YouTube channel? It doesn’t need to cost the earth or involve an actual person sitting with you 1-2-1. That would be nice, but do what your circumstances and budget allow and let your intuition guide you. This card could also mean that something unwelcome is coming into your life which is going to need you to find inner reserves of strength. Maybe someone close to you needs you to use your voice to defend their cause? Or else you are going to have to stand up and fight to protect their life? See how the beginning of the week pans out, and then adjust your reading of the next two cards to suit.

The Eight of Cups – disappointment, sacrifice, loss, abandonment and turning away. The middle of the week looks trickier than the beginning and Thursday and Friday are likely to be a challenging time. The Eight of Cups depicts a man turning away from everything he once held dear in order to embrace a different way of life. Perhaps what you do at the beginning of the week means alliances shift and friendships are challenged? Maybe an intimate relationship or your job is put to the test or even lost? These are polarising times and any time a person makes a change and tries to shift focus or direction their circle invariably alters. Even something as simple as turning vegan or giving up alcohol can alienate you from your group. People prefer it when we stay who we are so that they can know us more simply and also so they don’t have to look too closely at themselves if they are happy with how things are. Be brave, be strong, and stay true to your heart. The way of the heart, although painful, is the way that ultimately serves us best. If this eight proves painful for you, know that this is part of your hero’s journey and that this too will pass. No matter how high the cost of this card and this week, there will be transformation and healing and better times. Sometimes losing everything is a kind of freedom, releasing us so that we can get back on our rightful path.

Strength – inner power, strong emotions, resilience, the divine feminine awakening. Saturday and Sunday deliver you connection to a strength you didn’t know you had (and perhaps didn’t want to know you would ever need) and from this a bond with triad of the inner feminine. Your soft, squishy inner child is melding with your fiercely protective inner mother and stoic, wise grandmother and as they meld, you connect too to your original animal power, the first seed of your nature. Let this occur. From it a Phoenix will rise. You are stronger than you think you are. You are capable of surviving anything, and that includes everything that is happening to you right now and that which has come before. Welcome this magical bonding of archetypes and watch as miracles occur. If this was a difficult week, things are shifting one way or another now. Hang on in there, try not to lash out or be too harsh, either on yourself or others. It’s been quite a ride and may continue to be so for a while.

Let’s talk anxiety… 🧸

I want to talk to you about mental health because it’s such a hot topic. More individuals than ever are experiencing elevated and charged emotions, depression and suicide are on the rise, people are dealing with isolation, fear, grief, helplessness, abandonment, rejection, condemnation, prejudice, confusion, overwhelm, panic and anxiety… and yet there’s very little yet in the way of support. Which makes it a serious point and something we need to be aware of and receptive to given the current world climate.

So if it’s not you; if you are ok, be open to the feelings and experiences of those around you and try to be there to hold space for them. This matters and could be the thing that stops them from going over the edge. Simply sitting and allowing that person to freely express how they are feeling in all of its rawness, without feeling the need to step in and shut it down, can be transformative and incredibly healing. And as an act of service, it’s the highest and the simplest kind.

And if it is you; if you are the one who is struggling, who feels like they are drowning: try to find someone who can be gentle and patient to hold space for you. And also try – if you can, and I know it’s difficult – to be there for yourself in that way as scary as that might seem and as challenging as it might be. With practice, it’s gets easier and more enjoyable and impactful. Perhaps start with yoga nidra or restorative yoga, following an audio or a video – because that creates and provides a beautiful space and is a powerful form of anchoring, grounding, soothing, calming and healing.

The video below takes a deep dive into all things emotional and offers up some insight and advice on how to help both those around you and yourself. Plus there’s a mini oracle reading.

Catch your breath – stop, find a place to shelter and settle, accept that now is more like autumn, a place of pause and slowing down and turning inward after a period of high power, energy and pace. Try to locate your roots in nature, somewhere where you can sit and be still. Find your version of a tree to hold and meditate under. If you can’t go outside or don’t want to, then a chair or a bed leg even. Or good for me are a pillow or a balance ball. Bring that energy back into your body. Find something to hold space for you. Then think about the acorns in your life, the things of value that help you to feel nurtured. Maybe that’s a green juice, exercise, a hot essential oil and Epsom salt-filled bath, your cat or dog, orange oil in a diffuser. Find what works for you, then trust what you are experiencing will fall away and everything will be ok: seasons change. Acknowledge what you have access to. Build gratitude for that. Create a treasure chest of these things in your mind that you can easily dip into so that next time you are in need of a pick me up, you know what to do.

Potential Gateway – this time can be a tunnel into another brighter and better way of being, a passageway towards a new you and a new version of your life and way of living and acting. It can be beautiful too, if you can trust in it and hold its image in your heart and mind’s eye. You can timeline it even by creating a mood board. What is your version of peace and paradise and serenity? Create an image of that and use it as a focus point to walk to. This is the gift, the silver lining that is your reward. This card promises that you will get there, that there is a there, that it is worth carrying and holding on and putting the effort into. Things feel difficult right now, they feel challenging and painful and exhausting, but they won’t be this way always, that is the point of this card, the future it sees for you.

Sunday Scripture: to help you to future-proof your week.

This week’s reading comes from the Radiant Rider-Waite Tarot deck, published by U.S. Games Systems, INC., with artwork based on drawings by Pamela Coleman Smith and the Ask and It Is Given cards by Esther and Jerry Hicks, published by Hay House Publishing. Check out their individual websites to find out more if you like what you hear, and see or go to Amazon to get your own deck.

As we move into August, the focus is about celebrating what you have achieved thus far and channeling that energy in order to create and plan for more of it, along with looking out for energetic vampires in your life and thinking before you speak.

The cards drawn are:

  • The Nine of Cups
  • The Seven of Swords
  • The Knight of Swords

Watch the video below to find out what it’s message is. Then send me a message and share what it awoke or sparked in you.

The Nine of Cups is our card for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It reminds us that we have accomplished many things over the course of this year, both big and small, all valid and worthy. And it bids us sit back and give thanks and appreciation for this. Perhaps you took up yoga, learnt meditation, started a daily self-love practice, turned vegan, gave up processed foods, started juicing, built muscle, lost fat, got rid of chemical products, began researching or studying a new subject, stood up for something you believed in, formed a support group, held a friend through a crisis, shifted focus in your career, etc. Whatever it is and how many there are, take time to pat yourself on the back. Note how you followed your intuition, acted from your heart and lived by your truth, all the while remaining humble and grounded. This is how we create a display cabinet full of many cups, and a life full of merit.

The Seven of Swords is our card for Thursday and Friday and it shows a man stealing from another’s camp. It warns us that either someone else is going to come into our home and try to take something from us – maybe only connecting in order to ask a favour or get some advice – or we are going to be tempted or called upon to do that to someone else. Be on the look-out for energy vampires both big and small and maybe lean into a bit of energy vampire scaldaggery yourself in order to get your needs met.

The Knight of Swords is our card for the weekend and it shows us a knight charging into battle. He is moving fast and travelling through inclement weather, hell-bent on his holy grail. Perhaps you are going to feel compelled to stand up for something you believe in that might not go down so well with everyone in your life? Or maybe someone is going to come at you with their own specific truth? Either way, what is being communicated might not be palatable for everyone. If it’s you doing the preaching, make sure you are truly aligned with what you are communicating and prepared for what might come back. And if it is something that is coming at you, just be mindful that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you don’t have to take it personally. One person’s truth could be another person’s lie. Stay grounded and centred and don’t rush in. What we say in haste we often regret.

When life hands you Lemons. 🍋

Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, it can feel like life is out to get us or at least like she isn’t currently on our side. And we can wonder too at what’s up with our guardian angels, because it feels like they also have deserted us.

When life turns against you; when she hands you lemons: what do you do and how do you find the strength to keep going until you reach the other side? When the milk in the pitcher is always sour no matter how many times you return to milk the cow: how do you cut the chords that have become emmeshed so that you can go out and find a different animal?

A lot of it can come down to self-belief. If you don’t love yourself enough, if you don’t believe that you are worthy: you aren’t going to take the risk; you may even lack the confidence to trust in the potential of your own power. And if birds keep defecating on us each time we pluck up the courage to get dressed and venture outside… pretty soon we’re going to stop putting in the effort, perhaps even concluding right now isn’t the right time. It can be hard to trust in the Universe and in the Bigger Narrative when all of our small attempts to change the scenery are met with resistance and failure. Eventually… we start to doubt the Powers That Be.

After all…why do our efforts to change and improve the situations that have become toxically binding amount to nothing each time we muster up the courage to try? Why does our time, energy, hope and faith turn to dust in our palms?

In order to understand this ‘why’, we need to first understand the ‘why’ behind the lemons we are dealt and the box of them that we have managed to accumulate. And really, when we break it all apart, it comes down to this:

  • what have you done that causes you to believe you deserve this – these bad things – in your life?
  • when did you learn that you weren’t loveable and worthy?
  • who told you you didn’t deserve to be happy, healthy and have all of your needs met?
  • where did you pick up that you had to put others first always, no matter what?
  • who told you it was selfish to have rules of engagement and to ask for them to be met?
  • who told you you were a bad person, unworthy, not good enough, clever enough, strong enough, capable enough, etc?
  • what is it about you that makes you believe other people are more worthy of love, happiness, family, community, friendship, fulfilment, stability, security, health, harmony and peace, etc?

Somewhere inside – like deep, deep down – we all have limiting beliefs, and it is these beliefs that shape and guide us and that is why life hands us lemons, not because it doesn’t love us or want us to be happy but because we don’t believe we warrant more. In order to receive we first have to accept that we are worthy, and then comes the journey of allowing things in with open arms.

So in the interim of therapy – which we can all agree would be super nurturing, expansive, helpful and nice – what can we do to hold space for ourselves and how can we move into a place of surrender, faith and healing?

Let’s ask the cards…

The Owl bids us to listen to the messages of the angels and to the knowledge we have inside, for just as they are here for us as teachers, we are here as teachers for those in our own tribe. Use your wisdom responsibly and always blend it with love, because it carries both energy and weight. With words, a mother can either wound or heal, cause a child to grow or shrink. As a soul parent to the people around you, how does your family look? This is not to say that you should accept drama, theatrics and game playing from anyone. Never is this ok. Simply an encouragement that you acknowledge the wider ripples of how you interact and respond. The more distance you can put between yourself and a heated situation – i.e. rise up above it all like a bird, surveying the scene from a more objective less emotionally involved vantage point – the more chance you have of piloting through.

The Bear furthers this message, advising us to use power – our power, the power of our energy and truth, the power located in our solar plexus – with wisdom. In applying the insight of the Owl – that to look and listen and to rise above, that to free ourselves from unhealthy entanglements – the Bear shows us how important it is to be grounded, because being connected to the Earth enables us to come from a place of centredness and stability. Practice yoga for an amount of time and you will come to sense this. When we adopt the Mountain Pose, for instance, we can be poked or pushed and still remain standing. We are stronger when we fully inhabit our bones rather than when we collapse upon them. The Bear reveals the strength within each and every one of us, but also reminds us of the need to hibernate. If the world is a little scary right now, if your personal or work environment is challenging, if the walls are crumbling and your home-sweet-home is stubbornly falling down: retreat, go onwards, take care. You may need to walk alone for a little while while you figure out who you really are. And that’s ok; you are the one who sets the deadline on your destination.

The Lilac Fire dragon completes this journey, showing us how to transmute any lower energies that are in our lives. This, in turn, frees us up to attract more higher energies, which are the ones we want. On the path of lemons, this means there will be less and less, because lemons are all about lower energies and entities: the things that come to steal our light. The Lilac Fire dragons, like all of the dragons in this deck, are fifth dimensional creatures but unlike the others they have access to the ninth dimension too where there is a new energy being gifted. This energy, that of the Lilac Fire of Source, carries transcendent love and enlightenment. Call in this dragon and ask her to help you to let go of the old so that you are able to embrace the new. Imagine the chords that are wrapped around you. See how tight and tangled they have become. Follow them outwards to see where they go. Who are the people? What are the places or situations? Take note of this, then ask the Lilac Fire Dragon to help you perform a chord-cutting ceremony. Spend time on this in meditation and afterwards cleanse the room with sage, palo santo, or a room cleansing spray made up of water, alcohol and essential oils. Great ones would be sage, palo santo and lavender. Why not mix them all together in a bottle and use them regularly to clear the energies in your room, and also diffuse them if and when someone has come in and disturbed the energy. If you only have lavender, this is ok too. You can always blend it with other oils you might have. Ones that will also work are lemon, orange, rosemary, oregano, peppermint, frankincense, clove, cinnamon, pine, cedar and spruce. I always find its best to go by intuition, so smell a few and see what speaks to you. It will change from day to day or week to week, so be open to this too. Trust your senses.

Why does this keep happening to me? 🐞

Ever wondered why – when you are just going about your quiet, polite business – you suddenly get attacked? Or asked: what is it about me that just attracts this kind of behaviour? Ever had your day totally turned upside down by another person’s outburst when all you were doing was minding your own business and trying to be inconspicuous and nice? I think most of us have.

But why does this happen? And why, specifically, is it happening now?

This reading is intended to dial in to the energy of the perpetrator, the he or she who is or has attacked you, in order to better understand it and from there proceed with a bit more compassion for the source. After all, if we better understand our own energy and see him or her not as an antagonist but as a teacher and a guide, life becomes more pleasant and manageable. The medicine, the lesson they are here to help us to learn, is sweeter.

So… why are you attracting this behaviour and why does it keep happening?

The King of Swords is a sad and lonely individual. See how he sits in isolation on the top of an uninhabited hill, perched on the edge of a cliff with no one for company. See how his clothes are heavy and oversized, like they were intended for someone else. His sword too. And his throne is narrow and hard. It is not a comfortable or a family-oriented place. He has great ambition and lofty goals – he seeks to rule and own a kingdom – but just keeping his throne and not getting usurped takes up all of his daily energy. And somehow he doesn’t trust the world or anyone in it anymore, so he can’t let anyone come close in case their softness and goodness rubs off on him and makes him weak. When he attacks you, therefore, it’s not personal. It’s not what you did or said. It’s your energy and light, coupled with his unconscious awareness of your desire to step in and be of service were you to get to know him in any way. He senses your empathy and compassion for all people, your desire to help those who are in need, and this threatens his code and agreement with the world, because if he were to also see all people as good and worthy, then he couldn’t be king, because being king requires that you trample those who are beneath you and consider them underfoot, and you cannot hope to acquire wealth and great fortune unless you are aloof, disassociated and strong. A king lives, after all, off the taxes of the people.

The Seven of Pentacles reveals who the King of Swords used to be, before he lost himself to ambition. This man is the boy next door, a man who has come from humble beginnings and who has big dreams, a man who believes in the universe and in a kind world. But while the king dreams of owning a kingdom and ruling over those whom he considers weak, while he considers his own importance paramount regardless of the cost: the Seven seeks only to own a humble plot and to manage his crop. He too seeks to own and rule over a kingdom, but it is a private one and it has a cap. He would like a few fields, a few vines, enough wealth to manage his land and employ help where necessary, the means to clothe and feed his family and meet their needs. He is the same man as the king, but he is open and trusting and grounded and he does not fear that what is his will be taken if he isn’t always on the offensive and up for a fight.

So now we understand the personality of the energy that is attacking or draining us, and have more compassion for it and understanding of its nature, the Ladybird is here to offer us some wisdom and advice.

  • Accept happiness and good fortune where you find them.
  • Look for the gifts that are scattered subtly and sweetly about your life.
  • Focus on the good things and use them to balance out the things that you don’t like.
  • Practice gratitude daily.
  • And when you have dark forces, chords and entanglements that need to be cleared, turn to the ladybird for help. They are specialised in flapping their wings and flying you back home.

Welcome to Sunday Scripture… 💒🌪

a one-card, once-weekly reading, bringing you a mini-sermon of wisdom and inspiration to live your week by.

Why?

  • Monday’s are a great time to start over and do better than what we did before.
  • Pep talks are helpful, encouraging and sometimes lifesaving.
  • Having a focus motivates us.
  • We can’t see as clearly as the Universe does.
  • Transformation needs a starting place to plant a seed.
  • Mood boards are jigsaw puzzles of the things we want to bring in to our lives and each card is a new piece for yours.

This week’s reading comes from Dianna Cooper’s Archangel Animal 🦇 oracle cards deck, published by Hay House Publishing with artwork by Marjolein Kruijt. Check out their individual websites to find out more if you like what you hear and see or go to Amazon to get your own deck.

The focus this week is about preparing for change and how to navigate through turbulence. The card drawn is the Raven and his energy is all about picking through the pieces to pull out what works for you.

Watch the video below to find out what it’s message is. Then send me a message and share what it awoke or sparked in you.

Do you have a resident energy vampire? 🧛🏻

Just going about our lives takes a lot of energy. We have tasks, chores and responsibilities, both to ourselves and others. Then there are our relationships and the commitment, effort and emotion we bring to them. All before we even get to work, appointments and meetings. And this is just the surface layer: our lives are full of so many different things…

Add to that world dramas – of which, currently, there is no shortage – and it’s no wonder we are feeling a bit lacklustre. Some might even say burnt out; fried by the constant push and pull of demands and the pace and passion of the media. I know I am not alone in having reached a point of overload.

Which is why self-care is so important. And why we need to get plenty of sleep and do things like meditation, breathwork and exercise. And take care of ourselves by eating right and living in a clean environment. There is a lot we can do from the ground up to support ourselves. But it is a daily job and sometimes it isn’t enough.

What if, despite all of this, something is still draining us?

What if part of us or part of someone else’s behaviour is sabotaging or taxing us?

This reading is intended to get to the bottom of what might be draining you, because we all have energy vampires 🧛🏻‍♂️🧛🏻🧛🏻‍♀️ in our lives!!!

The first thing to notice about this reading is it’s need for attention. Usually, I pull one or two cards and wait for that to lead me. If things are still unclear or if there is a need for further information about something the reading has brought to light, I will then draw more, using my intuition to guide me. This reading demanded five cards outright; three literally leaping out of the pack. The cards were full of energy and adamant they be heard, which only adds to the importance of their message.

The Page of Pentacles shows us where our energy is being spent; literally, as pentacles are the money cards. The Page is an enthusiastic childlike character, usually a student, intent on a learning and mastering path. He is either seeking to polish skills or acquire new ones. This Page is focussed on financial improvement and is hard at work studying something that will bring in money and grow his life in that regard. Indicating that you are expending considerable energy on trying to build your career or business, and that the leak is most likely, but not necessarily, related to something to do with work. Are you trying to break into a new area, acquire skills, breathe life into a static situation, or pivot or reinvent yourself? Dreams take focus, drive and energy. To counter-balance this, we must be mindful that we are also filling up our tank with plenty of self care. The mountains in the background indicate obstacles to achieving the dream the Page is picturing. Perhaps these obstacles are the things that are draining you? Can you think what they are? Can you shift them in your mindset so that they are more digestible and appealing? The Page is a power card and an energy card and one full of manifestation. When he is in our life we can celebrate: things are underway, we are building, life is changing. We just need to pay attention to and take extra care over the rest of our life, so that we stay healthy. When you were younger and you were studying for an exam, did you not eat right and make sure you also had plenty of rewards to keep up your enthusiasm? Your body needs this from you still, so pay attention to your present moment and be a good parent.

The Five of Cups seeks to explain where other parts of our energy might be being spent, helping to bring clarity to why we might feel like we are running out of it. After all, time spent studying and learning and acquiring new skills, although challenging and mentally draining, is positive energy usage and therefore self-charging. Don’t you always feel energised by learning something new; picking up a new insight? The Five of Cups, however, is a very different energy, because it is all about disappointment, despondency and regret. This card can simply be explained by the phrase “crying over spilt milk”. The character in this card is sad and distracted from his present life and its wealth by that which he has lost. He is stuck in the past, wishing things were different and could be different now. Where are you lamenting over things that are behind you? What do you regret not having, losing or breaking, even? Why is what you don’t have so much more valuable to you than what you have? This preoccupation with the past and things that didn’t turn out the way you liked, is your energy vampire. Think about who you might need to forgive and get on a path of releasing and healing. If you don’t want to do it alone, or can’t, a therapist would be useful and help make it easier.

Our next card, the Knight of Wands, is brave and energetic and full of enthusiasm. He is gainfully employed and happy to be serving both his kingdom and his community. This energy usage, although high, is positive, because it is the act of creation; so no need to worry here. The Knight, given his mission, has a clear picture in his head of what he is intending to accomplish, a strong desire in his heart of what he hopes this will reap, and a tug of intuition in his belly of how to acquire it. Therefore, if we are also the Knight, we are likely investing a lot of energy into our crusade – the crusade of the Page of Pentacles, the crusade to build the life we want to build in our world. This is not an energetic vampire, however, for the pursuit is one of enthusiasm and passion, and, like the Page, self-charging. This card merely shines a light on where energy is going. It is a window, not a call for attention or a cry for help.

The Ace of Wands is another manifesting card, in which we are using our wand – our creativity, our intuition and imagination – to create change. The hand coming out of the clouds indicates that we are channeling a lot of what we are doing right now directly from Source, (or our higher self, or our guides, or whoever it is we receive from). This work is tiring and takes a lot of energy, but it is rewarding too and so not the source of our exhaustion. But picture the image on the card, or see it in the video: you are attempting to create your ideal life – the lush green landscape, the full blue stream, the castle on the hill. This level of manifestation and pulling into being is hard work. Do not under estimate how much energy this is using. Appreciate that, and give thanks to your mind and body for staying strong for you. And, again, up the levels of self-love and care.

The Two of Swords concludes our reading and reveals to us the solution. We are at a metaphysical crossroads. We are pulling in different directions. Essentially, a stand off. In order to make the future arrive in all of its glory, as in arriving as a future we can be happy in and feel proud of, a future we are desiring, we need to let go of some things and make some decisions. These things are whatever the contents of the three spilled cups (see Five of Cups card) is for you. This card reveals that the reason things aren’t happening at the speed you want, the reason you are failing and being let down or feeling sabotaged, the reason you are drained, is because you are blocking yourself from moving forwards. You have shuttered your intuition and bound your true voice. You have stranded yourself on an inhospitable shore. And you are refusing to see clearly about certain things playing out in you life. Because of this, no ships full of treasure (see rocky shore, stormy sea, dark night…) can dock.

Watch the video or find the above cards, either in your own deck or from images online, and spend some time adding your own thoughts and realisations. This will help you to get the most out of the card and to implement the advice and guidance given.

How can I attract more clients and grow my business? 🌳

In any business clients are key, because without people searching you out who are prepared to pay for what you are offering, you are really just an uninhabited house full of useful things, a tv playing to an empty room.

Clients are eyes on the page, subscribers to your channel, people following and liking you. They are influencers who share, recommend and widen your reach. Depending on your field, they are like children seeking toys, companions, parents and cures… or adults sourcing solutions, tools and mentorship. Clients need to be celebrated, rewarded, honoured and appreciated for what they are, because they are not just a means to an income, but a family and a life tribe.

Finding your tribe, building your community, therefore, is the secret to success. But how do we get there if we are stuck on that journey? What is blocking us from building the business and the life we desire?

The King of Cups shows where you are right now, which is deep in your heart. You have desire, passion, a goal and dream… but you are led by your emotions. This has got you a certain amount of the way – you know what you want, you care deeply about what you are trying to create – but beyond that you are stuck. You keep implementing the same strategies, carrying out the same tasks, but nothing is really growing. By focusing on what lights you up and brings you joy alone, you are neglecting the other components necessary to make a business function. Or maybe you are being carried away by what is in your heart and therefore not seeing things clearly. There is a lack of balance here. You are awash in emotion. And as necessary as it is to be in touch with your heart and honest and accommodating of your emotions: it is also important to be grounded and practical. Do you want to be clinging to a concrete throne in the middle of a changeable ocean, vulnerable to every inner and outer shift? Wouldn’t you rather be sat reclining on cushions beneath a shady terrace overlooking a landscaped garden bordered by a gentle stream?

The Magician shows us what the King of Cups has indicated, calling for the cultivation of more structure, order and balance. A master creator, his trick is in bringing all things together. Right now your focus is from the heart, on everything represented by the cups and water. You are doing what you love and what brings you joy because this is what you have been told will be successful. “Follow your heart,”, “do what lights you up,”, etc. But in order to succeed, to attract more clients, to build your business and community: you need to also include the other suits; the pentacles, wands and swords. Lay them all out on your table, use them equally, polish them all as tools. You don’t have to know it all intuitively or even do it all really well, you just need to acknowledge where there is an imbalance or a deficit and find someone who can help you or teach you what to do. The more you lean into the energy of balanced creation – a little bit of earth, a little bit of fire, a little bit of air and a little bit of water – the more you will start to see a return. For just as a garden needs soil, sunlight, fresh air and rain: so do all things we are looking to create.

The Four of Wands is the big reveal, showing us what lies ahead. This card represents balance and harmony, as well as celebration, union, community, family, homecoming, abundance, fortune and success. Essentially, everything we want to have and experience in life. This is a thumbs up card for what you are currently trying to grow, the universe signalling to you that it will happen if you follow the Magician’s advice. Bring together all your talents. Balance any deficits. Seek mentorship or tutelage where necessary. The four wands illustrate that we have grounded our desires and used our emotions to water and grow sturdy legs, creating a table upon which we have laid a rich spread. In addition, there is a shady canopy providing space and protection for your tribe to congregate beneath. This is one of the most positive cards in the tarot and one to be excited about. There is greatness in your future. It is within reach. Knowing this you have everything that is necessary to dream and do big.
