How can I better support my inner child and meet them where they are at? 🐺

Our inner children are precious and vulnerable and need our love and attention, but typically they receive the opposite. Sinking into their emotions, holding space for all they have to say, can be too uncomfortable and triggering and often we just don’t have time in amongst the commitments and responsibilities of our day to listen to their experiences and be there in the way that they want us to. This leads to our inner children feeling unappreciated and undervalued, and when that happens they act out, just like a toddler would.

Learning how to support our inner children, therefore, and remembering to check in with them as we go about the business of our lives is important work and something we need to be doing regularly.

I know it’s hard. At 8 am when you are sprinting to get to work and already running late you don’t have time to deal with your inner child’s need for adventure and freedom. Their desire to journey to the country, find a forest, follow a path into nowhere, smell flowers, touch fungi, hug trees, picnic in a clearing… is impractical and inconvenient. In your world of responsibility and commitment, of bills and demands, it’s impossible to meet and you don’t want to feel the grief and abandonment at your denial of it.

And, yes, it’s inconvenient when you are on a call to your mother and your inner child is wounded by something that is said… or when you are speaking to you son and your inner child grows angry at how your son is treating you. No one said that parenting your inner parts was easy, or was supposed to be.

But it can be less hard. And it can be fun and rewarding, if you do it often enough and commit to it for the long run.

When you build up a relationship, when you reestablish that sense of connection and trust, when you form an alliance in which you take care of them and they take care of you… seeds are planted and in time a garden grows, a garden you can visit for a moment or for an hour to sit and pull shapes out of clouds, count butterflies, collect bugs, ride unicorns, take sewing lessons from mice, etc… the rules and the landscape and the activities are up to you. Whether it’s practical or fanciful, is yours for the choosing. What I’m saying is that you don’t need a real forest or a real picnic… or a real day or afternoon… you don’t need to break rules and skip meetings… you can show up and be there and parent and put back together and placate and nurture, simply by taking a short time-out in a common space to ground and commune.

So how can we better support our inner child and meet them where they’re at?

What do they need us to know today?

The Tower card is a card of intense emotions. In it we see a tower in the middle of nowhere, atop a high mountain, reminiscent of Rapunzel. The tower is burning, it’s top blown off by lightening; flames are falling, forcing its inhabitants to leap. And these poor people are heading head first into rock, or at least we imagine, as there is no ground in sight. Our inner child is communicating something pretty powerful: that they feel like their world is imploding. There is fear, chaos, uncertainty, unfairness, abandonment, victimisation and despair. In this card, the world is unkind and vengeful. It feels like it’s falling down. It feels like home has become a prison and then that prison is being attacked and the only means of survival is to leap. It feels like we are all alone and nobody cares and everything that was important, that meant anything, that meant everything, is falling away. It feels like the only way through is in surrendering and accepting great loss. Our inner child is showing us that they are having a monumental meltdown as a result of being shut up and silenced for far too long. Things have reached boiling point, breaking point, you call it. Whatever fancy gaol you built under the guise of fortresses of protection… there’s been a system crash and your inner child needs you to step in.

The Ace of Swords is how you do this. Practical. Loyal. Reliable. Fierce. Crusader of the truth. Keeper of justice. This card is all about being a bright light. But not a light of pretty parcels or fabricated fairytales. A light of a better tomorrow, a brighter future, one that you can believe in. This card cuts through the darkness like an Angel appearing from benevolent clouds, promising an end to the raging ocean and rumbling skies. If we are like lambs to the slaughter, the Ace of Swords is like God’s Heavenly Word falling upon us. It’s a promise, a commitment, a bond. If we surrender, we will be saved. If we trust, we will be brought in. Our inner child wants us to be like God, or a Guardian Angel or perfect parent. They want us to protect them, to stand before them, to see and feel their pain and anguish, their rage and messiness, and act like a bodyguard against the world. But not like previously, where we locked them up and seldom visited because we couldn’t bear their disappointment and hurt, but like a kindergarten teacher who teaches and interacts and comforts and rewards, but who also comes from a place of truth and honour and who will protect them no matter what. They don’t want to be molly coddled or fed lies. They want to be taught and told about the things that matter and informed so that they aren’t taken by surprise. In the Tower card they are subjected to our interpretation of the world and to our feelings of anger and hopelessness and grief and overwhelm at its agenda. In the Ace of Swords they aren’t saying they want us to pretend that everything is ok and that the world is made of roses and candy floss. But that there is hope in community and in like minded-people and in new thought leaders rising up. They want us to stand in front of the darkness like a lone wolf and to treat them like the most precious vital cub, a cub who needs nourishing and nurturing and growing up so that he/she too can become a crusader.

How can I attract more clients and grow my business? 🌳

In any business clients are key, because without people searching you out who are prepared to pay for what you are offering, you are really just an uninhabited house full of useful things, a tv playing to an empty room.

Clients are eyes on the page, subscribers to your channel, people following and liking you. They are influencers who share, recommend and widen your reach. Depending on your field, they are like children seeking toys, companions, parents and cures… or adults sourcing solutions, tools and mentorship. Clients need to be celebrated, rewarded, honoured and appreciated for what they are, because they are not just a means to an income, but a family and a life tribe.

Finding your tribe, building your community, therefore, is the secret to success. But how do we get there if we are stuck on that journey? What is blocking us from building the business and the life we desire?

The King of Cups shows where you are right now, which is deep in your heart. You have desire, passion, a goal and dream… but you are led by your emotions. This has got you a certain amount of the way – you know what you want, you care deeply about what you are trying to create – but beyond that you are stuck. You keep implementing the same strategies, carrying out the same tasks, but nothing is really growing. By focusing on what lights you up and brings you joy alone, you are neglecting the other components necessary to make a business function. Or maybe you are being carried away by what is in your heart and therefore not seeing things clearly. There is a lack of balance here. You are awash in emotion. And as necessary as it is to be in touch with your heart and honest and accommodating of your emotions: it is also important to be grounded and practical. Do you want to be clinging to a concrete throne in the middle of a changeable ocean, vulnerable to every inner and outer shift? Wouldn’t you rather be sat reclining on cushions beneath a shady terrace overlooking a landscaped garden bordered by a gentle stream?

The Magician shows us what the King of Cups has indicated, calling for the cultivation of more structure, order and balance. A master creator, his trick is in bringing all things together. Right now your focus is from the heart, on everything represented by the cups and water. You are doing what you love and what brings you joy because this is what you have been told will be successful. “Follow your heart,”, “do what lights you up,”, etc. But in order to succeed, to attract more clients, to build your business and community: you need to also include the other suits; the pentacles, wands and swords. Lay them all out on your table, use them equally, polish them all as tools. You don’t have to know it all intuitively or even do it all really well, you just need to acknowledge where there is an imbalance or a deficit and find someone who can help you or teach you what to do. The more you lean into the energy of balanced creation – a little bit of earth, a little bit of fire, a little bit of air and a little bit of water – the more you will start to see a return. For just as a garden needs soil, sunlight, fresh air and rain: so do all things we are looking to create.

The Four of Wands is the big reveal, showing us what lies ahead. This card represents balance and harmony, as well as celebration, union, community, family, homecoming, abundance, fortune and success. Essentially, everything we want to have and experience in life. This is a thumbs up card for what you are currently trying to grow, the universe signalling to you that it will happen if you follow the Magician’s advice. Bring together all your talents. Balance any deficits. Seek mentorship or tutelage where necessary. The four wands illustrate that we have grounded our desires and used our emotions to water and grow sturdy legs, creating a table upon which we have laid a rich spread. In addition, there is a shady canopy providing space and protection for your tribe to congregate beneath. This is one of the most positive cards in the tarot and one to be excited about. There is greatness in your future. It is within reach. Knowing this you have everything that is necessary to dream and do big.

Why am I getting so upset? Dialing into triggers and the truth behind what they are really about. 🧯

Emotional triggers can be difficult to understand and even more to influence because they tend to be automatic, meaning they happen in the heat of the moment before we have a chance to see them coming or intervene.

For example:

When our boss admonishes us at work for something we have done incorrectly… we are cut to the core: the wound is visceral, and we might weep.

Equally, if a waitress is short with us, or a bus driver bemoans us for not having the correct change: we might freeze, losing our voice or else shrink inwards in shame.

These reactions are exaggerated. We are having a large response to a small event. On the physical plane, at least, the trauma is minor. In our minds, however, and energetically, it is immense. It has snatched us up and taken us hostage to an earlier time; an instance where we were treated in a way that didn’t feel safe. This could be being disciplined as a child in a setting where we were forced to be silent. Or the constant daily repetition of being told we aren’t good enough.

Emotional triggers are serious because they rob us of our composure and when we lose it, our foundations are weak. We are strong only when we are ourselves as a fully integrated adult, when we are calm and reserved and grounded in our sense of self and place.

We all have people and things that cause us to lose it. And sometimes we are more than justified in our response. Perhaps we need to stand up for ourselves and exert our boundaries, because if we don’t no one else will. Perhaps we are on the path of learning to treat ourselves with more respect and love. But perhaps, too, this response is harmful, filling us up with excess cortisol and adrenaline, causing our nervous system to go into overdrive.

With all things, there is a balance and getting it right is a skill that constantly needs to be tweaked. Nobody is perfect. Even after years of therapy, I still unravel when the circumstances are right. What we can all do though is learn to see more clearly and endeavour to be more conscious, because the clearer we see and the more conscious we are, the less likely we are to shape shift in the heat of the moment.

The King of Pentacles reveals how we want to experience the world and how we would like to be treated by others.

In this world: we are king. We own a sizeable kingdom, over which we have control. We have everything we need: its presence guaranteed. As such we are comfortable and secure. And we feel protected and provided for.

It’s kind of like how our inner child envisions our life. Or how we wish it was and are always working towards achieving. We get upset, therefore, when we are challenged (our actions, choices, opinions…) because anyone questioning us and our ability threatens the foundations. We do not have deep roots. Any sharp breeze or medium-strength gust could uproot us.

This card indicates that what we most strongly desire – home, sanctuary, love, status, financial security, etc., still eludes us. And suggests that attempting to hold onto what we have managed to accumulate: a property we rent, a job that’s unstable, a partner who we don’t like or who might leave us, etc…? is causing us conflict. In many ways, we feel like an imposter because we are trying to balance two things – what we want and what we have – and it is dividing us, and this is where the triggering occurs. The King of Pentacles reveals this and shows us that we need to make a choice. Do we play it safe and stay where we are, or do we opt for transformation and adventure?

And this is where the Two of Wands comes in. In this card we see a man holding two poles, grappling with a decision. Does he choose the left, representing staying put, or the right, representing action? This here is our trigger. We are unhappy with where we are in our lives. We are tired of all of the compromises. We want mastery and to be in control. We are old enough, surely, and wise enough. We have worked hard thus far. But we are like this man: a peasant standing guard over someone else’s kingdom.

This card is a call to action. Decide to stay put and choose to accept what you have now and where you are and put down all complaints against it, surrendering your free will. Or act, walking away from everything that you know and have built in order to start again.

The Four of Swords is how we move towards a revolution and how we lend support to our triggered parts. In this card we see a tomb inside a sarcophagus, inside of which, we presume, there is a man. This card is suggesting that we allow a part of us time to rest, laying him or her aside for a period. In this sealed and protected space, we can drift into sleep, away from anxiety, worry, fear, concern, drama and conflict. A part of us can take a break, going on an inner retreat. This part isn’t dead, only sleeping, and once he or she is done, rested and recovered, they can be returned to us and our world.

The King of Swords offers us an alternative to the King of Pentacles energy: a new throne, and suggests we work to own it. In this picture the wealth we possess is knowledge and the kingdom we have mastery over is truth. If we can understand that our learning and what we choose to do with it is our power, far more than money ever will be, then we can have freedom from our triggers. Because no one can take the wealth of what we know and choose to believe away from us unless we permit it.

Are you ready to walk this path?

Are you brave enough to make some decisions?

This reading is a call to action, if ever there was one, but if you are here you are ready.

What does my inner child need from me right now and how can I be of better service? 🧃🍦

If you are anything like me, you will have found the past four months deeply triggering: external events and the lack of solid facts waking wounds and insecurities you thought you had healed. As human beings, we need certain things in order to function properly; one of which is control over our lives. We also need to feel financially secure, or at least secure enough so that we can keep a roof over our heads and food on our tables in whatever way that translates for us. And we need people too, to take us out of our heads, to be a mirror to who we are and how we act, and to act as family and community. None of this has been available, at least not in the way we have previously known, and this has challenged, changed and provoked our thinking, seeing and experiencing, along with what we think we can expect to think, feel and experience in the future.

So our inner children are unsettled and creating chaos, because if you were little and suddenly got told by your parents that you couldn’t go out anymore and do the things that you love, or see your friends without wearing a mask for protection and didn’t know if you would still have your house next month, your parents their jobs, and you couldn’t go on holiday or buy new things because money was scarce and needed to be conserved not squandered, you’d be asking to be held and heard too.

So what can we do and how can we help?

The Eight of Swords shows us exactly what our inner child is experiencing and this looks a lot like persecution. The woman in the picture has been cast out, exiled from her rose-coloured castle on the mountain top. Left in the middle of nowhere in a clearing on the edge of the forest; tied up and blindfolded: she is unwanted and imprisoned, or this is how it feels to her.

She experiences this as:

  • nobody cares about me; and
  • I am a burden.

And, to a degree, she is correct. We have abandoned her – because she makes us feel uncomfortable, because she experiences the world viscerally, and in our current position of worry and overwhelm, we do not feel able to accommodate that. We are just about able to hold ourselves together, to contain our current version of self-created reality. To let her in, to experience her in all of her anguish and discomfort, all of her messy rage, is to risk all of that crumbling and with it the full weight of the truth as it comes crashing in. This card is predominantly about difficulties in overcoming restriction. It is a metaphor for both the external world and also the inner one. Look closely at how you feel about the world and how you feel it treats you and then reflect on how you treat your inner child. Could there be synchronicities here? If you were kinder to your inner child, do you think maybe the world, the Grand Mother and Great Father, would in turn be kinder to you?

The Nine of Pentacles shows us what she would prefer and what is possible if we can reintegrate her. We can view this card as a mirror for the previous card, an alternate version of the same reality. Instead of being cast out from the rose-coloured castle, this woman lives happily inside of it, free to move around as she pleases, visiting the garden, tending to the plants, mixing with and befriending the animals. The creatures are her friends here, and the environment works in harmony with her own energy system. She is a co-creator in this landscape. Think how happy and healthy we could be if only we could trust this, if we could open ourselves up to the possibility that our inner child is both our ally and our friend. This card represents success and enjoyment and what could be ours with a little work.

The King of Pentacles is the ultimate goal, for he not only lives in the castle but also owns it. If we can trust in our inner power, in our ability to do and create what we set our hearts to and our minds upon, we can live with our inner children, trusting in our ability to take care of both them and ourselves, all working together to create wealth, health and harmony. If we look at the journey of the cards, all we need in order to feel settled, safe, secure, sane, cheerful, capable and grounded, is to take off the blindfold and trust in our version of the world. Be the creator. Make pretty pictures with grey crayons. This card represents financial stability and security, a future that is waiting to come in when we are ready.

How can I help myself heal and feel better right now? 🐉

This reading is from the Dragon Oracle Cards deck by Dianna Cooper, who is most recognised for her work with Angels and the Ascension. She has written much on this subject, recorded many meditations and produced quite a few decks. See her website for more information and to get your own copy.

Today’s reading is about health and happiness and how to harness more of it and what better source of empowerment than that of dragon energy.

Dragons are beautiful, wise, ancient and powerful. They are elemental – which means that they are made up of, but are not necessarily composed of, the elements. We have fire dragons and water dragons and air dragons, for instance; as well as earth and fire dragons and water and air dragons, etc. They may have one or two or up to three elements inside of them. As such, they have the ability to govern and affect the planet, which is what draws us to them and them to us. They have been here for many years and have an ancient lineage. Their purpose now is to help us to transition into the new Golden Age, something which is happening very visibly this year and which began in 2012.

Dragons can help us on a personal level too, protecting us, befriending us and helping to take care of us. For example, they can transform lower energies, cut chords and remake memories so that the things that are potentially harmful lose their power. We can work with many different dragons, but we all have a personal dragon, who is associated with our star sign. So if you are an earth sign, you will have an earth dragon and if you are a water sign, you will have a water dragon, etc.

The Air Dragon can help us heal and feel better right now simply by following her example: to rise above earthly matters. She tells us to communicate honestly with those around us (and with ourselves); lends us inspiration and hope so that we might feel more capable and grounded, and offers to help us see life from a higher perspective. She is perfect in her message – because we are here, after all, because we cannot see clearly, and she has an answer to that.

Like our dragon, the card is purple, white and blue in colour, a combination between the crown, third eye and throat chakras. She comes from the sky, where she sits above the clouds looking down. She talks to the birds and they bring her messages from the world below. This is how she knows you and your need and why she is here for you now: the birds have told her. If we look at her body, we can see that it is curved in a question mark, head tilted and pointing down, eyes assessing and challenging. She encourages us to step away from our bodies so that we can rise above ourselves, hovering over our lives instead of living inside of them and in this way begin to see our situations and dramas in a different way and learn to respond and interact differently with them. We cannot see our way clear because we are too close. Like a man sweating and swearing as he climbs a mountain, the journey looks endless, perilous and steep. But move back a few miles and the mountain becomes more manageable; smaller and less threatening.

That is our homework then, to take ourselves up and away from it all, to sit like a dragon on a cloud looking down, to work to form a different perspective.

• Can we be less emotionally entangled in our life’s events?

• Can we take things less personally and seriously?

• Can we communicate our truth without the use of force and strong words?

If you are looking to form a clearer idea of the future and to create an actionable plan to help you to move forwards, call upon the Air Dragon to help you. Together, in meditation and visualisation, you can plot the route.

What does my father want me to know? 💁🏻

It was Father’s Day recently and I wanted to do a reading in honour of it; one that would be all about fathers and our relationship with them and fatherhood itself as a concept in our lives.

More specifically, this reading is for those who, for whatever reason, do not have a relationship with their fathers at this moment in time. If this is the case, my heart goes out to you in acknowledgement of your pain and I pray for your healing.

So… whether your father is alive or deceased, whether he is currently in relationship with you or not… this is dedicated to you, the children; all those daughters and sons who live with the knowledge and the burden of things left unresolved.

If your father were able, either from the spirit realm or from his higher self, to send you a message: what would he say? That is the focus of this reading, because, sometimes, what is felt inside, what is wanted in our hearts, isn’t what we are able to share.

• Maybe your father didn’t have a chance to impart his last words?

• Maybe your relationship in life was just too charged to be workable?

• Maybe there was too much past life karma?

• Maybe disagreements were had, things said, others done… and the distance gradually widened?

Whatever reason you are here today: I want to acknowledge that I understand. For, just as Valentine’s Day can be painful for those who are single: Fathers Day can be painful for those who do not have an active, solid, earthbound, current and/or present etc., father in their lives.

And this one is a little personal; so forgive me if I get choked up.

The Five of Cups is all about regret and the man in this card is deeply regretful, ashamed and sorry for his part in how things were and what played out. He wants you to know that he is aware of the pain he has caused and can see his part in it. But he is trapped by something he promised and bound himself to. Because of this, he concealed his own truth and instead lived and acted by the truth of another, surrendering his control, mind and power. And he was never then brave or mature enough to rectify this. As a result, out of the five things he holds most dear, he has lost or broken three of them. And while he is happy, delighted even, with the two he has… he is more upset and sad about the three that he has lost. These could be you and your siblings, or you, your mother and his sister, or you and his career and finances. There is a bridge between you, a river of unhappiness and unresolved emotions, and that separates you and him from the comfort of home and familial harmony. In his message to you he wants you to know that he owns this and that he acknowledges his part in it. And he is sorry that he is unable to resolve it on the earth plane; it is something he will always regret.

The Heirophant is his wisdom gift and wish for how you can move on; his attempt now at healing what he wreaked upon you, and with it he shows you another five but this time one of order and goodness and harmony. The Heirophant is like the Pope or a High Priest, a person of moral integrity. The message in this card, and from your father, is to go out and seek a person to look up to; another father figure, but to choose wisely and kindly. Go find yourself a positive male role model, one worthy of you, the person who, right now, can be the best father to you in your life. Perhaps this person is someone you already look up to? A speaker, a writer, a blogger or vlogger, an intellectual, a mentor, a colleague or friend. He might be a guru you follow. Or an angel. Or an ascended master. Or one of your guides. He might be a friend’s father or grandfather. If you haven’t found him yet, your father urges you to find him now, because his permission and blessing is all that he can give.

What is the source of my money blocks? 💶 💷 💵

Money is one of those areas where many of us get blocked: it can seem like no matter how hard we work, how much we try, how thoroughly we learn and study…. nothing shifts and we don’t seem to get anywhere.

We can also have issues with self-worth and asking to be paid for our experience, energy and time; as well as beliefs about whether it, money, is high vibrational or not.

When it comes to money, we have strong feeling about (and around) the subject; possibly deep wounds: and likely our parents, siblings, teachers and peers are influencers too into what we will or will not allow into our lives.

The purpose of this reading is to uncover these blocks, giving you a place from which to grow and move forwards.

The Five of Wands is a card of conflict. In it we see five men, all young, strong and healthy, competing with one another. They should be intent upon a common task, like trying to build a house or a tent, but instead they each have their own idea and goal so their passions are clashing. Individually, they have the potential to be leaders – they are alphas with egos – but there is only space here for one top dog. The ground they are standing on – i.e. our business building landscape – is lush and verdant, rich in resources and relatively healthy bar the occasional arid patch. Yet it is uneven, challenging firm footing. This card tells us, therefore, that it is not a lack of skill or talent; more too much diversity and too many inner individual cooks. In order to be more successful, to manifest more on the wealth front, there needs to be unity in the ranks and a common aim. Work out what the final picture is supposed to be like, live it and breathe it and feel it in your mind, collect all of your inner pieces and persons together to create from a coherent mind. Do this, and what you are working for will be easier to achieve.

Merlina reinforces this message, telling us that the source of our frustration and stagnation is our confusion and indecisiveness. We are too focused on the physicality of things and as such we’re removed from the larger picture. Ask for help from Merlina, your guides, higher and past selves, quantum selves on other planes, friends, family and mentors who can be allies…. and things will align and clarify.

How can I be more successful in my career? 🎡

When it comes to success and career, we all have certain blocks. If we aren’t manifesting in the ways that we desire, chances are it’s because something inside is restricting us. Whether that’s a bad experience in the past, a childhood trauma, lack of direction, motivation, self belief, etc… the result is the same: we flail around treading water; working hard but getting nowhere.

This reading is intended to shine a light on one or many of these blocks in order to start you moving.

The Wheel of Fortune is all about decisions and choices. These are the roads that we can, want to, or are thinking about taking. Which can be a good thing, right?, because we like to have options and possibilities. But when it comes to career and manifesting and achieving financial abundance and success: sometimes less is more; sometimes we need to hone in on something specific instead of being a Jack or Jill of all trades. It’s much easier to do one thing really well than ten things moderately, and that’s what is going on here: you have too many ideas, skills, thoughts and desires, and they are blocking you. Cut through the 🐂 💩 to who you really are at your centre and what you want to do with those skills. Making a decision will set you free.

The Ten of Cups shows you what is possible in your future if you do the work discussed above. It is within you to make a success of this and to achieve all you desire, not just abundance in career, but abundance too in love, and relationships and family. The Ten of Cups is the complete package of everything. Know that this is in your future and it will help fuel you when it comes to breaking free.

How can I help my heart to heal? 🐠

Our heart is one of our most important organs. It’s the organ that keeps us alive and helps us to breathe. Without it, we simply aren’t. It’s not like a kidney, where we can live without one. Or a brain, where a part can be damaged but the rest still functions fine. Or a spleen or appendix, even, where we can do without. Our heart is vital to our existence and we are very much connected to and wrapped up with it.

But our hearts are also our emotional centres and whatever happens to us happens to them. A bereavement, a betrayal, a rejection, a loss… all affect our heart. As does a compliment, a hug, a confession of love. Words and actions can lift, energise, empower and heal, as well as hurt, harm and destroy.

How we treat our hearts, therefore, and how we allow others to treat them, is pretty important if we want to lead healthy, happy, full lives.

We have all suffered heartbreak. We have all experienced harsh words and actions. This isn’t what is important though. It’s what we do afterwards that counts. Emotions themselves aren’t dangerous. There is only danger when we harbour them and refuse, whether consciously or unconsciously, to let them go.

Oceana reminds us that our emotions are like the ocean. She also reminds us that we are all connected to this one huge body of moving, flowing energy, as wide and as vast and as deep as the ocean herself. By tapping into that energy and that water, by sitting still and questioning and then quietly, patiently listening, we can hear what our body and heart want us to know.

Heart communication exercise:

Place one hand on your heart and another on your belly, tuning into your life force. Take your time to feel out the gentle movement, the energetic pulse. Listen and ask yourself what you hear. Look and allow yourself to see. When you feel confident, ask a simple question that you know the answer to and wait for a felt response. For example: Should I make myself a green juice, should I take a walk, should I go to bed earlier tonight than I usually do? Unless you are allergic to certain vegetables, injured and unable to exercise and/or already getting enough sleep, the answer to all of the above should be a yes. Then you ask something that would be a no. Like: should I drink this Coke, should I smoke this cigarette, should I cut off all of my hair? These questions, or similar, will give you a sense of what is yes and no to you energetically. And then you can move on to the real questions, like: is he/she/they good for me, am I in love with him/her/them, should I accept his/her/their proposal, etc? Using this method you can energetically tune into your heart centre and your solar plexus and make better, more loving decisions about your life.

What do I need to know right now? ☁️

To me, gentleness is a soft cushion, a fleece blanket, a warm hot water bottle, a cuddle with my dog. It’s winter tea, raw chocolate, fresh fruit. Gentleness is meditation, yoga and yoga Nidra. Gentleness is satsang, kirtan and classical music. Gentleness is The Gilmore Girls and Friends, and a hundred romcoms…. Gentleness is a friend’s hand on your arm, a smile from a stranger. Butterflies are gentle. Rabbits are gentle. If we are lucky, our inner voice is gentle too.

Gentleness reminds us to act more kindly and to think before we speak. Gentleness is about how we conduct ourselves and how we show up for others. Gentleness is a way of being, a way of seeing, a way of travelling the world. But Gentleness wants us to remember ourselves too, because it’s an inner act as much as it’s an external one. In fact the inside job starts first.

How gentle are you with yourself when something happens?

How do you treat yourself and allow others to treat you?

Gentleness starts at home and we begin with our inner child. When he/she cries, we need to reach out to honour, hold and soothe them. We need to be the best parent and good at holding space. For only in learning how to stand up for and speak on behalf of our inner selves will be be able to see, hear, help and heal the inner selves of those who surround us.

Gentleness is not therefore about being a wimp, but more about being a lioness. Be kind to those who are kind to you, but do not be ungentle inwards. If someone’s behaviour is harmful and out of line, it’s ok to roar.
